GREAT result at Blancpain Endurance Series last weekend in Silverstone
After some issues with brakes and setup during FP sessions, we had a great car for Qualy were we show good pace in all 3 Q sessions.
Starting in P2 after a great lap by Alex I was able to overtake Darren Turner in Copse to take the lead of the race. We pulled away from the rest of the field.
I had a great stint enjoying the pressure of Darren’s Aston but when we got traffic I had to be conservative. Was really tricky as some drivers were umpredictable and was so easy to have contact with them while overtaking as It happened to me overtaking an slow Audi coming through the new complex. Then it’s when Darren close the gap with me as I had to spend half a lap checking that everything was ok in the car after the contact. The lap after a Mclaren went off and rejoin the track just in front of me so I had to slow down and pass him on the inside when Darren Turner had better run to pass me in the following corner. Then I just found a solid pace to keep the tyres in good conditions for the whole stint and been semi-conservative with the traffic after the previous incidents.
After 1h of stint I left the car to my new team mate Peter Pyzera who did a great job during his stint but unfortunately had a drive through for overtaking under yellow’s. Then Alex did his job as always, quick and solid so ended P1 in Pro-am and P10 overall.
Fantastic job by the team to give us a quick and consistent Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 to drive but still need more improvements during the pitstops to be able to fight for the top. Now we leading the Pro Am category and next race is Paul Ricard at the end of June.
Well motivated for Le Mans after leading the race overall and set the fastest lap of the race overal.
I’ll keep you informed about Le Mans test in the next days!
